Chargers & USB Cables FAQ

Can I use a phone USB cable to power my dash cam?
No. Standard phone cables often can't carry the required voltage over long distances, causing the dash cam to constantly reboot. Dash cam power cables are thicker and specially shielded.
Can I plug the camera into my car's built-in USB port?
We do not recommend it. Built-in car USB ports usually output only 0.5A of power, which is too weak for a dash cam (requires 1.5A to 2.5A). Always use the provided 12V cigarette lighter charger.
How long are the dash cam power cables?
Official dash cam power cables are usually 3.5 to 4 meters (11 to 13 feet) long. This allows you to completely hide the wire along the edge of the windshield and under the dashboard.
What is the difference between a Power and Data Cable?
A power cable is designed solely to deliver electricity to the camera in the car. A data cable (usually short) connects the dash cam to your computer so you can transfer and view video files.
What is an OBD2 power cable?
